Interferential Therapy (IFT)

What is Interferential Current Therapy (IFT)?

Interferential Current Therapy Device transmits electrical impulses through the skin into deep underlying injured tissues.

The specific type of electrical impulses has been proven to be beneficial for pain relief, muscle stimulation, increased local blood flow and reduction of edema.

Indication: Who would benefit from VESTA therapy?

Individuals suffering,

  • Acute and chronic pain

  • Sport injury

  • Tissue swelling

  • Muscle tightness and spasm

Contraindication: Who should avoid Interferential Current Therapy?

Most individuals would be a suitable candidate for VESTA therapy, but individuals that have a metal implant and pacemaker should avoid IFT.

Don’t worry. Our physiotherapist will thoroughly assess you and make sure that IFT is indicated for you.

What to expect on your Interferential Current Therapy?

  • Our physiotherapist will thoroughly assess your injury background

  • We will then proceed to Interferential Current Therapy if it is indicated.

  • Suction-cup electrodes will be placed on the designated area

  • Your physiotherapist will turn on the current, you will then be able to feel the current ‘flowing’ comfortably inside your injured area.

  • This feeling is normally described as a comfortable vibration feeling.

  • Most if not all individuals report immediate pain relief during and after the therapy.

*Interferential Therapy should be operated by a trained medical professional, for example, doctor and physiotherapist.
